Waiting to See Them Again

"For a trump shall sound both long and loud, even as upon Mount Sinai, and all the earth shall quake, and they shall come forth — yea, even the dead which died in me, to receive a crown of righteousness, and to be clothed upon, even as I am, to be with me, that we may be one."
— Doctrine & Covenants 29:13

I miss my grandmothers a lot. I often think about them and wish I could see them again. They both passed away when I was newly married. I thought I knew them pretty well, but only as a child does. I now realize there are so many things I wish I knew about them as women. Like how they raised their children, and how they worked day by day to keep their marriages strong. How did they find the strength to battle their daily struggles?

I am so happy that I will see them again one day. For the Lord has given everyone a special gift — the resurrection. Through His loving grace and mercy, EVERYONE will be resurrected one day, both the good and the bad. This is a gift we don't have to choose to accept. It is ours forever. We will all be raised again and be reunited with our Lord and Savior, and with our loved ones.

I personally cannot wait for that day!

With love,

  1. I was just thinking about my paternal grandmother yesterday. She died when I was six. I know so little about her and getting to see her again will be awesome! :)

  3. Especially since they came from the generation where you work through your struggles instead of chucking in the towel.

  5. I lost my grandparents when I was newly married, too. I knew they prayed for me by name every day and I missed that reliance on their prayers. Such blessed hope to know I will see them again.

  6. Jean,

I am so with you on this one. And the longer I live, with more and more friends and family going ahead of me into Heaven, the sweeter the thought of that glorious reunion grows. Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus! Visiting today from Be Not Weary and glad I did. :)

  7. 1Thess 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Yes, we shall see those loved ones who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. These are the ones "IN Christ", refeffed to by St Paul. We do have a choice to receive Jesus into our heart, in order to have everlasting life. The decision is a personal one for each of us. Thank you for sharing at "Tell Me a Story."

  8. One of the most joyous moments I have in my life is thinking of my dear family and friends who are in heaven now and with whom I will be rejoicing and praising the Lord and singing and dancing and touching and blessing and hugging each other. Sometimes, in spite of wanting to remain here to serve my Lord until the time is finished, I desire to be with Him and them and out of here.

  10. I miss my grandparents, too. I would love to ask them questions about how they endured, about their faith, their journeys, how God strengthened them as they got closer to Home. One of my grandmothers was not able to talk well for the last 10-15 years of her life. Her mind worked great, but not her voice. So I look forward to the day when I can sit with her in Heaven asking her all the things I could never ask her as a child.

Thanks for this. It was great to think about my grandparents this morning.

  11. Amen, Jean. I have the same hope. One of my grandmothers died when I was very young and I don't remember her at all. It will be fun to get acquainted.
    Blessings,
    Charlotte

  12. My grandmother that has already passed was one of my strong Christian influences. I remember her reading her Bible every single morning before anyone else got up. I'm thankful that I know she is a believer and I will see her again in heaven.

  14. My husband's grandparents were gone long before he and I married, but my grandmothers lived for awhile after we got married. One of my grandmothers lived long enough to meet and know our children.

Both of my grandmothers were raised on a ranch, as was my own mom. But one grandma was the oldest of 10 children, and she would talk about having to cook a big meal for 40-50 ranch hands "with a child on my hip and one holding onto my leg." It's fascinating to think about how they lived back then!

My dad is with Jesus as well, and I am totally looking forward to seeing him again, but I know it pales in comparison to seeing the Lord! Thanks so much for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday.
